The formation of the version of Corcovado that played Friday night has taken place, literally, right before my eyes over the course of the last year (mostly). The addition of Sean Borja and Brendan Durkin to the live show gives them the power of four-part harmony. When applied to Austin Hays’ “Liberation”, a good song becomes great as the boys cut out their strumming, picking, and hitting to finish it off a cappella.
After Corcovado, Peter Charles Allen played his first show since returning from studying abroad. Brandon Brieske lent his melodic talents with finely-crafted electric guitar tones to a portion of the set. Peter played a set comprised of covers of influences (Wilco, Dylan) and original songs.
